STRANGER THINGS DAY
Colourpop Cosmetics is not shy when it comes to beauty collaborations.
As a creative agency - we respect and appreciate how much they invest in making makeup entertaining and interesting. We love that Colourpop uses a collaborative approach to re-energize their brand + marketing. In our opinion, this is where beauty truly shines. The Colourpop commitment to creative reminds us of the old MAC COSMETIC days - it was definitely a time when makeup felt more fun.
NOVEMBER 6TH IS STRANGER THINGS DAY
We figured this was the perfect time to release our take on the recent Colourpop x Stranger Things collection. When Karley House requested that we do this shoot, it was an easy yes!
ONE LAST ADVENTURE BEGINS
Stranger Things fans and beauty lovers will adore this collection.
It really honours the show, and the fact that season five is the final chapter in such a wildly entertaining and successful TV series. The overall design details are thoughtful and next-level. The quality of the packaging and components are art-worthy collectibles - something you’re not going to want to throw out.
We’re definitely going to keep everything.
Chapter One - Eyeshadow Palette
This limited edition eyeshadow palette is inspired by Stranger Things - Season One.
It boasts eyeshadow names that reference memorable moments, locations and characters in the show - Waffle Thief, Eleven, Chief Of Police, anyone? - as well as shifts and glitters that look truly gorgeous and unique on the skin. The colour story begins in Hawkins and end in The Upside Down.
Even if you’re not a die-hard Stranger Things Fan, this palette is well thought out and perfect for fall and winter - with warm mattes, a great transitional muted pink, and a very dense matte black.
The imprinted yellow shade with a waffle pattern is also a nice touch!
If you’re going to purchase any product in the collection, we recommend this palette.
The Monster - Chrome Liquid Eyeshadow Set
Who knew a makeup product could be inspired by a Demogorgon!
These multi-chrome liquid eyeshadows are infused with high-impact pearl pigments that shift with movement in the light, and they do NOT disappoint. The colour story here is awesome, and there’s a lot going on - which fits. The colours aren’t necessity “pretty” or “wearable” - and yet, they are. We were surprised at how wearable these eyeshadows were - with minimal creasing and no patchiness whatsoever. They built and layered beautifully. Mad props to whoever approved the final formulation of the pigments, because they got it right. There is a dark side here, but it’s hidden.
Karley used these liquid eyeshadows as multi-dimensional toppers on Lyric’s eyes lids.
Byers pH Changing Instant Crush Cream Blush
If you know anything about the online beauty world, you know that pH adjusting cream blushes have been BIG in recent months - especially on social media. Tik Tok really has a way of bringing back stupid trends, and as professional makeup artists, we’ve never really embraced the whole shock and awe movement when it comes to colour-changing beauty products in general.
They just feel a bit silly.
However, THIS collab is where a pH adjusting cream blush belongs.
The references and product formulation are just perfect.
SHOP THE FULL COLLECTION
Once again, Colourpop Cosmetics has created a memorable collection of makeup products, creatively-inspired by the foundational stories and nostalgia of a worthy muse - Stranger Things.
The makeup products in this collaboration are incredibly fun to use.
Colourpop has managed - successfully no doubt - to reference the best parts about the Stranger Things franchise, all without compromising on overall product quality.
In our opinion, this is the best collaboration Colourpop has done in a long time.
